Standing Together

At Trilogy we strive to be a force for good in the world. During 2020, we became increasingly aware of how racism has impacted the lives of some of our colleagues and friends. We asked ourselves how we might become part of the solution and we embarked on a journey to understand how discrimination of all kinds operates in society.

We still have much to learn – but we have taken important, practical steps. We have:

  • Set up an Anti-Racism Working Group, to which people across our assets have joined

  • Created an Anti-Racism policy to guide our work

  • Signed the Business in Community, Race At Work Charter

  • Made sure that our stakeholder engagement processes seek out underrepresented voices

  • Proactively look for ways that our assets can reflect the heritage of their local communities

  • Embarked on mentoring programmes

  • Offered space and support for diverse local organisations

Our sector is one which has often lacked in diversity. Trilogy wants to play our part in creating opportunities for people of different backgrounds to enter and excel in this sector and across our own portfolio.

At The Great Northern we asked local people to nominate three black Mancunians to join our illustrated hall of fame ‘The Great Northerners’ – and were delighted when local heroes Lemn Sissay, Erinma Bell, Phil Martin and Marcus Rashford were chosen by popular vote.

At Republic our Community Management Team are creating a multi-faith room on site, have showcased the work of local black creatives and are hosting Open City’s prestigious Accelerate Programme – which seeks to use education and mentoring to widen diversity in the built environment.
